Charlotte spoke too soon. Her proclamation of a lucky pregnancy was premature, as she was only two months pregnant. As her third month came around, the poor woman's morning sickness was overwhelming and her mood equally distressing.

The Milk DrinkerIn no unordinary fashion, Veronica Charles drove home from work on November the seventh at 4:30pm, but made a detour at the market for a gallon of milk. Only last week on Monday she repeated this act, but each time she did her pulse accelerated and her mouth grew dry. Indeed, for the past four months this was her weekly routine.

Despite living alone, and not drinking milk frequently, she found that her store of milk disappeared unusually quick. Veronica never spoke of this anomaly to family or friends, fearing mockery and disbelief. The poor woman went so far as to tie her hand to her bed frame to prevent sleepwalking.
